Moving Around Pender (MAP) has played a central role in identifying, championing, and advancing several of Pender Island’s most important active‑transportation trail projects. Its work has helped turn long‑standing community aspirations into funded, shovel‑ready routes that improve safety and connectivity across the island.
MAP first recognized the potential for a safe, continuous trail network in 2018, when members highlighted the need for off‑road links between neighbourhoods, schools, parks, and ferry access points. This early vision directly inspired what would become the Schooner Way–School Trail, a two‑kilometre multi‑use route now finished construction.
